About
Abhay Sobhanan is a PhD Candidate in Industrial Engineering at the University of South Florida. He is pursuing research under the guidance of Dr. Hadi Gard and Dr. Changhyun Kwon. His doctoral research focuses on optimizing large-scale vehicle routing problems, incorporating methodological advancements, and addressing real-life concerns like equitable workload allocation.
Prior to joining USF, Abhay Sobhanan worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, India. He graduated with a BS-MS dual degree in Mathematics from National Institute of Technology Agartala, India in 2019. His master’s thesis was on the topic of Type-2 Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making.
Research Directions
Abhay Sobhanan is interested in the fields of Operations Research, Discrete Mathematics, Deep Learning, and Queueing Theory. Currently, his research focuses on combinatorial optimization problems, and the on-going works can be listed as follows:
